The TV and Radio Company “Trialeti” was founded in Gori in 1990. The channel owns private/general broadcasting license (B56) and it broadcasts in the Shida Kartli region. The channel also covers the conflict zone – Akhalgori, Tskhinvali and its adjacent area. In 2013 Trialeti TV opened a studio in Tbilisi. Presently, the TV channel provides HD broadcasts.
The TV channel is owned by Joni Nanetashvili (50%), Badri Nanetashvili (20%), Nino Gagnidze (20%) and Aktsepti Ltd (10%).
Before the 2012 parliamentary elections, on May 18, 10% of the TV channel was purchased by Channel 9 Ltd, owned by the family of then leader of Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili. On July 9, 2015 Channel 9 Ltd was replaced by Aktsepti Ltd. According to Transparency International Georgia, “20% of Channel 9 Ltd is owned by Kakha Kobiashvili (through Aktsepti Ltd), a relative of former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili. Kobiashvili is the legal representative of nine different offshore companies that hold assets in Georgia.”
On October 10, 2015, the owners of 90% of shares in Trialeti TV released a statement about the sale of the TV company without explaining the reasons.
Badri Nanetashvili was a lawmaker in 2004-2008 and a member of the National Movement – Democrats faction. In 2003-2004 he was a deputy governor of Shida Kartli.
Badri Nanetashvili owns shares in two other companies – the audit firm Audit Mrcheveli Ltd (50%) and Investmedia Ltd (100%).
