Obieqtivi

The Media Union “Obieqtivi” was founded in August 2010. One of the founders was Irma Inashvili, Secretary General of “The Alliance of Patriots of Georgia” party. Since 2014 she has not been involved in the channel’s management.

In 2016, Mamuka Gobechia was added to the governing body of the Media Union, while Tea Nadiradze left the board.

In 2015, Media Union “Obieqtivi” NNLE had its general television broadcasting canceled and in 2021, the license expired. Since 2022, “Obieqtivi” only uses a radio broadcasting license.

Notably, soon after Bondo Mdzinarishvili, one of the co-owners of the TV company and its host, distinguished for the use of hate speech, was elected as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Public Broadcaster, he handed over his 14,25% share to one of the co-owners, Irakli Tsilikishvili. The reason for the changes was the requirements of the Georgian law on broadcasting, which regulates the issues of conflict of interests of the trustee. After this change, Irakli Tsilikishvili became the owner of the largest share of the TV company - 28.75%. He is also the only stable donor of the channel.

From 2010 to 2022, Irakli Tsilikishvili served as both a member and the chairman of the board of the Media Union “Obieqtivi”. In addition to “Obieqtivi,” he is the Director of “Amaltea”. “Amaltea” produces and sells dairy products.

Media Union “Obieqtivi” is infamous for its pro-Kremlin, xenophobic, homophobic, and anti-Western editorial policy. Beyond its rhetoric, the connections between Russia and “Obieqtivi”/“Alliance of Patriots of Georgia” have been confirmed by journalistic investigations. According to one such investigation, Russia supported the party during the 2020 pre-election campaign.
