Kavkasia TV was founded in 1994. Initially, the channel had a broadcast license covering only Tbilisi and nearby areas. But as a result of the digital switchover, the TV channel expanded its broadcast range and starting from February 1, 2016, along with the Tbilisi multiplex, it also carries out broadcasting through the Batumi, Zugdidi, Telavi, Kutaisi and Poti multiplexes.

Initially, the co-founders of the channel were: Davit Akubardia (90%), Geno Khrikadze (7%) and Davit Gergedava (3%). Presently, the channel is wholly owned by its director, Nino Jangirashvili.

According to the TVMR data for 2015, a share of Kavkasia in TV ratings is 1.04%; according to the Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC), in 2015 its commercial revenues accounted for 0.6% of the entire market. In 2015 the channel’s revenues amounted to GEL 82 625 for airing budget-funded ads.
